WHANGAMOMONA COUNTY COUNCIL.
COUNCIL'S MONTHLY MEETING.
The, ordinary meeting, of the Whangiimomona County Council was held on Wednesday. Present: Crs. A. Meredith (chairman), W. A. McCutehan, N. K. Cleland, E. B. Itoborton, ,J. .and Bacon. Leave oi absence was granted to Cr. McChig-
gage. The Engineer was instructed to call for tenders,for supply of _ metal for Ohura Road, provided the specifications are approved by the Public Works Department. It was decided to ask Mr Coulter to clear the willows away or cut n drain for three-quarters of a Cfiain from the boundary to allow the natural drainage from Mr Cornish's land at the,hack of his section a free outlet. Mr-Bright was granted a lease of portion of a road reserve on Moki Road opposite section 7a, with a pro i vision for. compensation for filling, grassing ~and fencing improvement at the expiration; of /the lease. The tender of M. C. Aagaard fo; dog collars was accepted. W. B. Shaw was appointed foremar for the Central Riding. The following motion was passed ir reference to tile. Government's attitud regarding mail and telephone services "That this Council considers the reply of the Government re mail and tele phone services between Auckland an: Taranakl most unsatisfactory and tha' the public bodies interested be advis ed accordingly and asked if they/ cai make furthe.r. suggestions, as the prosent position is most unsatisfactory. The Te Kutt'i Chamber of Commerce wrote in reference to control of, mail arterial roads'/ and the Council decid ed, to recommend that the matter b left over till the recommendations oil the Counties Conference are make known. The Engineer was instructed to laj off the work of, forming and metallim of Mangarewa Road on receipt of tin provisional approval of the loan. It was resolved that Mr be informed that the Council cannot see its way to admit his claim for compensation for damage done to his fence. Mr J. W. Jones was informed in reply to his letter re metalling C Brewer Road that the contracts wer already let and if the subsidy is forth coming the Council will be glad K I comply with his request.
