T. R. Roydhouse, editor of the Sunday Times, Sydney,, has resigned, and intends taking up farming in New Zealand, of which country lie is a native. Miss Bosiua Buckman, of New Plymouth. has been engaged to sing in a season of German grand opera at Covent Garden, commencing on February 2nd, states a London cablegram. Mr Claude H. Weston returned to New Plymouth by last night’s express from a trip to the Old Country and to the Continent. Mrs Weston is.at present in Melbourne, and will probably return 'in about three weeks’ time. Mr Cousins, who represents the teachers of the North Island on the Teachers’ Superannuation Board, has resigned (states a Wellington Press Association telegram). An election to fid the vacancy will be held shortly. It is understood Mr Wells, president •of the Auckland Branch of the Institute, will be a candidate. Miss -Margaret Valintine, eldest daughter of Dr. T. H. A. Valintine, In-spector-General of Hospitals, was married on Thursday to Mr George Middleton, farmer, of Cambridge, at the Anglican Church, Lepperton. The Rev. C. F. R. Harrison, Vicar of Waitara, officiated. The bride was attended by Miss Middleton, Miss Joan Kendall, and Miss Janet Valintine, and the bridegroom by Mr W. T. Palmer (Waiuku, Auckland), and Mr R. H. Quilliara (New Plymouth). Dr. and Mrs Valintine subsequently entertained a large number of friends at their Lepperton home. The newly-married couple left for Hawera by motor-car in the afternoon.
