A sudden call to the front of the 13th regiment places the two revelling husbands iu an awkward position. They 'fix up some stage uniforms and accoutrements, while Jack aids them by taking a bundle of lettoifc, which are to he posted from tho front, one every day. The peace of mind of the poor husbands receives a rude shock one day, as they read tho paper an account of the total annihilation of the 13th regiment at Panama. They deride to return home at once, and invent a story of marvellous escape. They do so and give a graphic account of their supposed adventures and details of the great disaster.
