AN AMMUNITION SCANDAL
THE QUEBEC ARSENAL. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] Times—Sydney Sun Special Cables (Received 8 a.m.) Ottawa, November 20. Colonel Gaudit, head of the Quebec arsenal, has retired owing to the ammunition defects scandal. Twelve mil 'lion rounds of'ammunition were defective. It would he necessary, he con aiders, to molt-.the material in one million and a-half cartridge cases. Stock had not been taken in the arsenal for thirteen years. A shell factory established years ago never pro duccd a single shell of correct dimen sions. The condition, of the machinery necessitated closing the factory.
