[FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] A most successful and enjoyable time was spent in the Kiore schoolroom on Friday night, when a concert and dance was held in aid of the children’s prizes.,, frpm ,a]l .parts, i of the; district, To AVera, ,Htiiroa, > Douglas, and as far as .Norman by, were present, and the room iujs t tyixed 1 to the full, many having to stand. Mr Reeve in the chair. - The programme submitted would have done credit to a much larger place, and was greatly appreciated by the audience. It consisted of songs, comic and sentimental, club swinging, fancy dancing, recitations, and also items by the school children under the able direction of our most popular teacher, Mrs Pearson. At the conclusion of the concert, the room was cleared for dancing, the music being supplied hr ; our local talent—Messrs Stockiey ( (violin) and Pearson (piano). Mr Atkinson acted as M.C. The following was the programme : violin and organ, Messrs Stockiey and Pearson; Fairy Land, School Children; song, Mr W. Stewart (encored); clubs, Miss E. Reeve; ‘‘Watching for Pa,” Misses M. Pearson and Alice R eeve; character song, Mr B. Permit; song, “A Little Child shall Lead Them,” Master Hodden; Highland Fling, Miss Alice Reeve; song, “Pickles,” School Children; song, “Parson and the Clerk,” Mr Reeve; recitation, Mr Ross; song, “Nobody Knows,” Master Stockiey; song, “Come to Dinner,” School Children; song, “Peg Away,” Mrs Permit; recitation, “Grumbletown,” Master Caldwell; song (Scotch), Mr Stewart (encored); Rally Lana, School Children. j Dancing was kept up till the small hours of the morning, when the company dispersed, well satisfied with the evening’s entertainment.
