Tho Opposition, by 25 votes to 4, forced an adjournment till to-day, as a protest against' the Government adjourning the- Senate a fortnight ago and then proceeding to business itself when a' nd-confidence motion was hanging over the Government. The Leader of the Opposition, in moving the resolution, declared that as the Government was prepared to conduct business with a want-of-confi-deneo still pending, it was time the Seriate showed the people whether the true friends of Constitutional Government was the Opposition or the Govern ment. A representative characterised the motion as a deliberate attempt to frustrate busines,s and bring it to a standstill.

Ministerialist Senators subsequently claimed that the Opposition antics had made a double dissolution necessary. ft was generally agreed that a crisis is approaching, The Government's action in meeting the latest phase of political, deadlock is anticipated with keen interest.
