The German Press is generally hostile to tlie United States Mexican policy. The Tageblatt says that all the great commercial Powers' would suffer by a Mexican war.
The Kreuz Zeiturig thinks that President Huerta is aware of the United States’ military weakness. President Wilson’s ultimatum is merely another threat.
Havana, November 6
Ma nuel Calero, the Presidential excandidate, has arrived. It is believed that he fled from Mexico, but he declares that bo merely intends visiting the T inted States. He announces that be has retired from politics. Senator Dominguez is also a refugee. His brother attacked Huerta in the Senate in a speech, and mysteriously disappeared. Huerta has asked France to intervene, but the latter declined, thus lending declaration to the United States policy. President Wilson reiterates that military intervention is not contemplated and refuses to state whether Huerta replied. The latest report is that he does not know and fears a Jingoistic attitude. The newspapers may possibly force matters to a head. The .Note has been sent, described as a penultimatum threatening an ultimatum in the event of no elimination,
