There 1 \vaa a" big 'attendance df" farmers ; (Aver 110 people being present) and out of 'a large yarding we were able to ! place' under the hammer 74 dairy bulls:'' Jerseys 'and Holateins w'ere 'in'good' deniai'id'/ and any good 'dairy'Sho¥thorn» were 'well' bid upon. For'Mr J. B. Clem'ow we sold a very nice 3 year bid 'Jersey (bred by Mr Bbllth; 'of Carterton)- 'at 28igns., and for' JVii' ;I R>i T. 8.-Mellow a number of pedigree'Jerseys, I-T^gns.'being reached. " Other pedigree Jerseys were sold lip to 20gns., and the demand was not •satisfied. Pedigree Holsteins were sold 'up to' ! 2sgns. and purebreds reached ■lß|gn9. Shorthorns realised from Sgiis. to .12gns., and we could have placed a further number of good dairy Shorthorns had they been offering.
For our supplementary fair on November 17th, we have already a good number of entries; and these comprise some well-bced 3>rsoy> and Holstein bulk, also -several' =nice' quality Shorthorns., ,-i I ' !''::'
On Tuesday, 1 21st-inst:, for our. fortnightly* sale"of'store cattle in our ,Stratfond yards; about' 700 head came fo-rwand, and nearly-all' of these we were, able to place' under' the hammer or afterwards. The yarding was chiefly comprised off., (yearling steers and iheifers-,. .For -good coloured steers there was,a, good demand, and. we had sev eral buyers forwards 'for nice well- , grown • Jersey and Holstein heifers. Store and fat cows, of which there were a good number yarded, met with healthy competition. We quote as follows:—Yearling, steers from 44s for small mixed colors up to 63s for a nice line of good colored stuff ; yearling Shorthorn heifers- from 42s to 565; colored yearling heifers from 6Ss to 87s for well grown good colors; colored empty heifers, 2 year old, 86s; '.store cows, young and good framed, 67s to' 955; ' coavs aged and ill; low condition,, 46s to 555; fat cows up to 12is."Jt)ur dairy sale showed a good d.emarid' fcjr quality,' and 182 s6d waft' reached 'for well grown sort!sj for nice 1 quality, close up, 120 s, to 1555 : .
