MOTOR CYCLE AND CART COLLIDE. (Per Press Association.] Thames, October 23. A collision between Bennington (a motor cyclist), and a cart resulted in serious injuries to Hoy Martin, aged nine, who was riding in the vehicle. The cycle swerved and dashed into the cart. Martin fell, and the horse being frightened, plunged forward, and the wheels passed over the lad's body. His arm was broken and he sustained serious internal injuries. His condition is critical, and he has been taken to the hospital. The driver escaped unhurt. Bennington received minor injuries in the shape of cuts and bruises. ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. Gisborne, October 24. Joseph Curran, a Syrian hawker, attempted to commit suicide by cutting his throat at Muriwai. He is in a critical condition.
