The monthly meeting of the School Jommittee was held Ist night. The Swinging Club offered to limewash the hath if the committee supplied the necessary'material, and it was decided to supply the material.

The Baths. The Chairman said it had been suggested that the opening of the baths should be marked with a small swimming • tournament. > :• . ' It was decided to hold such a meeting, the Headmaster, the Bath Committee: and the Swimming Club Committee to confer and make all arrangement*. ■ The fees for the season were fixed as follows: Gentlemen •7s 6d (members of Swimming (jlub ss), boys under. 18 ss, ladies 3s. A proposal to reduce

.the fee for men to 5s all round was 'not adopted. The acting secretary of the Swimming Club (Mr E. H. Kivell) forwarded £5, voted by the Club towards completing concreting at the swimming bath.—A vote of thanks to'the Club was passed.

Committees Association. Mr Staples moved, that a School Committees Association be formed. He said that mpeh good would result .rom such an association. The country schools had certain grievances, i'hey thought they did not now get the consideration they deserved, and which they thought they ,-pould get if their wants, voiced through a united association. They also thought that ht present, they did not get as good 4 class of teachers as they wisbbd. The association would be a great help tty the country comipittees. ( Mr McMillan seconded. He said one of the best features of the association would be the united action which could ie taken. For instance, the recent protest against the Education Bill would have,had more weight if it had been passed by a body representing the • whole of the committees of the district. ' j .The motion w4s carried.
