Mr Botha, speaking at Utrecht, reiterated that the interests of South Africa must be first and Imperial interests second, but there need not •necessarily be hostility between the two. Referring to labor unrest, lie said he would not tolerate being dictated to by officials. Touching the position of the railways it was clear that retrenchment was necessary. Because of this, the Government was threatened with a strike, hut those threatening him at the revolver’s point would-be bitterly disappointed."
