A rather unique experience befell a Kawhia citizen recently while sleeping in the house of a settler whose hospitality he had gratefully accepted when benighted. On retiring to bed (states the local paper) he placed a beautifully-finished set or “masticators” on a convenient piece of furniture. but was horrified next morning on finding that this portion of his anatomy had disappeared during the night. ' Suspecting rats a diligent search resulted in the discovery of the missing section, which had, fortunately" been too large to bo forced into the rodent’s burrow.-
