A witness of tbe fighting states that Alviroz and 400 men were ambushed at Torreon, and only four escaped. Alvierz, when hopelessly surrounded, broke his sword and sat on his horse calmly waiting till he was shot. The rebel general removed the body to Torreon, where it was conspicuously displayed, being suspended from a. telegraph pole.
