Mr Jos. Boon was the successful tenderer for the erection of the new Toko Hotel, the price being in the vicinity of £I7OO.
In connection with tne recent raffling of a motor car by the Waikato Winter Show authorities, it is stated that while the car cost £6OO, some -1600 tickets at 10s each were disposed of, realising £2BOO. The Association, therefore, cleared a very considerable sum. At Waverley on Sunday evening (the I’atca Press reports) Mrs McKinnon stepped on the to pof a well, and the covering giving way, she fell between -oft and 80ft to th<v bottom of the well, in which there was sft of water. Fortunately she was not seriously injured, and was able to get into the bucket to bo drawn to the surface.
