COMPULSORY SERVICE.
o REPLYING TO CORRESPONDENTS [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] ' London, September 12. The Commonwealth Office, replying to a correspondent at Westminster who drew the attention of emigrants to the hardships of compulsory service, declares that compulsory service is popular. Both great political parties, oil the contrary, are united on the question, and compulsion had come to stay. The office adds that the number of enrolment is satisfactory and is •improving.
