Wiiliasn Scott, aged 42 years, a niarrii d man and a miner by occupation, of Green Island, was found banging in big wash-house at 7 o’clock this morning. It was evident that he had been dead some time before being found. A MYSTERY SOLVED. Westport, September 7. Too mystery concerning the fate of Joseph Osmond Croft, of Granity, siationmaster, who lias been missing since 12th July, was solved this afternoon, when his body was found in the bush across the railway about- 200 yards outside the borough 'boundaryi A bottle of lysol half empty was lying beside the body. There were no'papers cr. money in his pockets, though deceased was paid his salary just a few days before he disappeared, but a collar was found lying beside, him with his name written on it. Invercargill, September 7. David Elliott, 46 years of ago, eniploycd as a greaser on'the S.S. Rotorua, was found dead in his bunk on Saturday. Deceased spent most of Friday evening in the Sailors’ Rostand returned to his ship about 10.30, apparently in his usual state of health. During the night ho was heard crying out in his sleep, and awakened one of the mates at the time -stated, when lie was found to ho dead. Ho was a native of Loudon, where his widow and family reside. Dr. Torrence examined the %ody but found no marks of violence. .A son of the deceased was killed by an accident on the Raka in when she was at the Bluff about four years ago. A SHUNTER’S DEATH. Robert Arkwright, the railway porter whoso left leg was so severely crushed in the shunting accident at the Ifutt on Thursday that it had to be amputated, died in the hospital this e vening.
