THE EGMONT CLUB.
HA L F-YEARLY MEET!NCi. The half-yearly meeting of members of the Egmont Club was held last night, the president, Mr X. J. King, being in the eliair. Mr King said the Jinanoes for the half-year were very satisfactory. An unsatisfactory feature, however, was the amount due in outstanding subscriptions. If members went on as at present it would only he a feuyears till the club was o.ut of debt. Members were to he congratulated on having placed the Club in such a good position. In the course of a general discussion it was urged that special efforts should be made to cater for card-play-ers, and it was decided to recommend the committee to go into the matter. Oil the motion of Mr W, J. lleeve, it was decided that in future no member could I >e a member of the committee unless he were a trustee or guarantor. Mr King said that on the following day they would have the pleasure of a visit by members of the Hawera Club, about thirty being expected. In about three weeks the Club would hold a social to entertain its lady friends.
