WANGANUI SESSIONS. (Teh Press Association.] Wanganui, September 2. At tho Supreme Court to-day a young man named Chas. A. K. Murray was charged with failing tp account for money helongi'ng to the* Wanganui Coursing Club.. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty and added that the case should not have been brought. ACTION FOR SLANDER. Invercargill, September 2. At the Supreme Court, before Sir Joshua Williams, Janet S. Reid sued David McDongall, of Gore, for £SOO for alleged slander. The case for plaintiff was that she was engaged in August last as housekeeper for Alexander Anderson, a farmer, living at (•'ore. In November last, Anderson rec ived an account from-McDongall. who supplied him with milk. He considered tho amount excessive, and iii the course of a row between the two men MeDougnll uttered slander complained of. He alleged immorality on the part of the plaintiff and her sister. Tlie plaintiff was not present, but subs‘f|nentiy Anderson told her he could not retain her services any longer. S'lie therefore lost her situation and bad also suffered in health. Tho case is not concluded.
