TOKO NOTES.

[from our own correspondent.] On Friday last the Toko Oddfellows held their annual plain and fancydress ball in the Coronation Hall. There was a fair attendance, and a few fancy costumes were noticeable. The hall opened with the grand march, some forty couples taking part. The door was in goor order. The fancy dresses were; R. Morrison (Dollar Princess), Mrs' Gernhoefer (Night), Miss Cumberworth (Red Cross Xur.se), Miss .Stanford (Gipsy), Messrs. W. ’Pratt and G. Cleary' (Sundowners fjrom the Back Blocks). Splendid, inhsic Was supplied by htrs Bianclii and Mr W. Walsh (violin). Extras Were'kindly played by Miss Cumlberworth, Miss Clark,| and Mr Wflsh. An excellent supper was arranged by Sister Corbett, which left nothing to lie desired. The ladies who assisted in the supper room were Meadames Griffith, Gernhoefer, Morrison, Sisters Corbett and Burgess, and Miss Inglis. The duties of M.C. were carried, out bV Brothers Gtirnhdefer and'CdSlkey.

PERSONAL. tcl'i' ■ ~Vf; ; .... g . ij oim j Mr W. Pratt lias filled the vacancy of secretary and tresurer for the Toko Hall Assembly and also the Toko-Gun Club, owing to Mr H. H. Judd resigning on account of leaving, the district. Mr C!. C. Leary has been appointed secretary and treasurer to the Toko Settlers’ Association, owing to Mr Judd’s resignation. Mr F Riley, who has for some months past been baker for Mr J. A. Stanford, left Toko on Tuesday for Tariki, having bought out Mr Bonuiface’s bakery business. Quite a number of farms have changed hands lately, and people arc leaving the district, and no Joss than thirty-one children have left school this last month.
