Germany will not participate in the Panama Exhibition, for identical reasons as those of England. AUSTRALIAN COMMONWEALTH. [United Press Association.] (Received 8.55 a.m.) Melbourne, August 19. Mr Cook (Prime Minister) says that as the States seem unprepared to accept the financial responsibility ot representation at the Panama Exhibition, the Commonwealth is left alone to shoulder the burden. In the event of the States dclining to act, the proposed grant of £20,000 will probably be spent in some form of advertising Australia.
