.MATTHEWS, BENNETT AND CO’S. REPORT. Messrs Matthews, Bennett and Co. report that there was a large entry of stock in their Inglewood yards on Wednesday last, nearly all pens being well Idled. Bidding was good for all classes, and nearly everything was sold at the following prices;—Colored heifer weaners £2 15s to £3 11s, steer weaners £2 5s to £2 Ids 6d, mixed do. £1 15s to £2 ss, 2 year steers £4 Is, store cows £2 IDs to £3 Ids dd, springing heifers £ 1 l()s to £7 15s, backward ••.pringing cows £3 10s to £5 ss, forward do. £5 10s to £lO ss, cull hoggets 8s Gd.

There was a great variety of undries, which also elicited keen ompetition and were sold as follows: '.rewhella jacks 60s to 62s 6d, milk art £6, milk cans 20s, milk waggon 110, fowls 2s each, disc harrows 455, ;alvanised piping 3d per foot, plough Os, 7 year old gelding £35, 8 year old ;elding £3O, 8 year old mare £25 10s, ow with litter at foot 1555, hoggets 1«, Jersey bull 7gns. The cows realis’d: £l6 10s, £ls ss, £l4 10s, £l3 ss, £l3, £l2 15s, £l2 10s, £l2, £ll ss, £ll 10s, £lO 15s, £lO 10s, £lO, ;9 15s, £9 ss, £9, £8 15s, backward ows and 3-teaters £4, £6 to £B. Iverage for the cows £lO Is 6d, which 5 very good average for machine milkd cows. Springing heifers, 2 year Id, small, £4 15s to £8 10s, for well Town stuff, weaner heifers 465, yearing bulls £3 10s to £5 10s. On Friday, Ist inst., we held a, clearig sale on the Bird Road, Stratford, ■n account of Air John Willis, who is lying up dairying. There was a fair ttcndance, seeing that tire day was 0 unpleasant arid that ho had no undries advertised. The competition as good considering that cows were mstly 2nd calvers and of Shorthorn r. Ayrshire cross, though they were 1 fair condition aim showed careful election. On Monday, 4th inst., we held a lost successful clearing sale on acount of Mr W. H. Barlow on the ’embrokc Road. There was a very irge attendance of tho public from 11 parts of Taranaki. The cows, diich were mostly of the Shorthorn ype, were in splendid condition, but

considerable number of them showl ago. Mr Barlow sold his cows on heir merits, i.e., on the butter-fat ertificates supplied' by the factory, nd local people knowing the quality f the stuff offering, the bididng was cry keen. Jersey bull, ladiant Morn, elicited keen compctiion from local buyers and made 18 ;ns.
