Invercargill, August 1. The i General Labourel-s’ Union passed aj resblution expelling the president, I Mr, M. J. Ford, ope of the delegate's to'the recent Unity Conference, who is opposed to the strike policy. At the recent council by-election Mr Ford opposed the candidature of Mr Glass, a Social Democrat, who was at 7 M.,11 1 the bottom of the poll. Napier, August 1.
Word was received in town that Percy Lamb, manager of Bell Bros’. Waiwhare station, committed suicide by shooting himself in the head with a rifle between 7 and 8 o’clock this morning. Deceased had been suffering from insomnia and the act was attributed to this cause.
