[By Electric Telegraph-Copy right] [United Press Association.]

(Received 9.15 a.m.) London, July 22

Francis Shackleton and Thomas Garlick, who were charged with conspiring to defraud Lord Ronald Gower of £40,000 pounds were committed for trial.

On February 13 a cablegram stated that defendants had been remanded on the above charge, while there were other charges concerning £6OOO from Frank Hird, and £12,000 from Miss Browne. Shackleton was committed for trial on a; charge of misappropriating £ISOO. Counsel stated that Lord Ronald Gower was ruined after entrusting the management of his affairs to defendants. Garlick, who was given power of attorney, sold Gower’s stock and credited Gower with shares in the International Financial Development Corporation and paid alleged dividends. He also acted similarly in the other cases.
