The loss of the pearl necklace is the biggest sensation in the history of jHait on Garden. j Mr Mayer, the owner, was occupied for a year in collecting sixty-one 'pearls, of which the missing jewel consisted. It is believed to be the meat valuable in - the world. The price jashed was £150,000, and it was insured for the full amount with Lloydß, who have offered £IO,OOO as a reward.

The sugar which replaced the pearls represented the weight of the pearls to a gramme. Several seals apparently were removed and exactly similar ones added.
