THREE-FIFTHS MAJORITY.

THE VIEW OF "THE TRADE."

(Special to "Post.")

Wellington, July 18. Apropos of the Prohibition deputation to the Premier yesterday, a prominent member of the Trade, interviewed this morning, said: "We are, of course, against a bare majority or the reduction of the majority, fhe Prohibitionists held formerly that it would require a three-fifths majority to give prohibition sufficient moral support to make it valid. We do not think any majority has a right to take away our livelihood and rely upon the fair-mindedness of the people to vote against those who would confiscate our business and reduce the value of our properties. ]t is a mistake to think that a Joss to one section of the community is going to benefit others. If one trade sutlers all branches of industry must suffer also. The Prohibitionists confess that nearly one million of money would be lost to the revenue of the country, but they do not propose that Prohibitionists alone should'make good this loss. Can the Dminion afford to lose this revenue:-'"
