At the V.R.C. winter meeting, the principal events resulted: — GRAND NATIONAL STEEPLECHASE of 1500 sovs., about three miles and a furlong. Leah Kleshna (Morgan), 11.6 ... 1 Statecraft (Burns), S>.s ... ... 2 Coradjil (Hawkins), 9.6 3 All the acceptors started. Misser was t' e first to move. At the abattoirs Statecraft led from Leah Kleshna, Misser, Coradjil and Bullawarra. The field was reduced by Uig Bob falling, and Guncap losing his rider. There was little change along the side, where Statecraft was half a Inngth in front of Leah Kleshna, followed by United Kingdom, Bullawarra. and Captain Jingle. The lastcam© to grief at the next fence. United Kingdom took charge at the back, but fell approaching the abattoirs, leaving Leah Kleshna at the head of affairs. Leah Kleshna led Statecraft by six lengths entering the
straight, and going on won by four lengths., a similar distance separating second and third. Bullawarra was fourth. Time, 6min 25Jsec. Douttagalla Hurdle Handicap.— Wimmera 1, Light Ballast 2, Forest Prince 3. There were nine starters. Wimmera led throughout and won by ■\ length, a head separating second and third. Tinw, 4min 18isec.
A Sydney cablegram states that Mr J. B. Reid has abandoned his intention of being represented at the Australian Jockey Club's spring meeting.
A cablegram from Paris states that the Gre;'.t Foal Plate at the Lingfield meeting resulted: La Marquise 1, Longtown 2, Dropwort 3.
