HOSPITAL BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Stratford Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held this morning, there being present: Messrs McAllister (chairman), Rodgers, Hine, Christoffel, Walter, Meredith, and Sole. Mr Smith was granted leave of absence for the meeting. REPORTS. The Medical Superintendent reported =1 beg to report that during June twelve patients were admitted, twelve discharged,, and one ■ died (injury to chest). Thirteen remain in Hospital. Three, operations were performed under anaesthetics.

The Matron reported: Nurse Baxter was away;frpm the building nursing jit Strathmore from Juno 21st to 25th, Nurse Betton is on duty at the isolation ward. We must procure a domestic to take the housemaid’s duty, as her holidays are duo tbit month.

The Inspector reported: Stratford Borough.—The marts, four butchers’ shops, three fruit shops, and the horse saleyard were inspected. Toko.—Twenty-eight dwellings, one hoarding-house, one butcher’s shop, two stores, one bakehouse, and one stable were inspected and thcjfollowing defects: were reported: One dilapidated whare, two dilapidated privies and pne dilapidated shed; also defects,ip one dwelling, one unsatisfactory. well, and;, three offensive accunudations. |!

J’lie gardener reported ; The grounds are in good order. The* side paths are rather but will be attended to as soon as I get the vegetable garden a .little further advanced. The vegetables are still plentiful and will be so for some time. I shall get my se.eds .next week.

The Visiting Committee recommended that the drying ground ■ be extended. This would give the laundress more room, be of advantage to the gardener, and improve the look of the place generally.—The recommendation was agreed to. CORRESPONDENCE.
