THE TARIKI BALLOT.

Seven hundred and forty-two acres of land at Tariki were disposed of yestei'day by ballot held at the District Lands Office, New Plymouth. Eighty-nine applications were received and all the sections were taken lip. The sections, which are in the Huiroa survey district, block 5, were offered on renewable lease on the following terms :— Thirty-three years, with a perpetual right of renewal for further successive terms of 33 years, and a right to acquire the freehold. The rental of the sections was 4i per cent, per annum on the capital value. The following are the successful applicants : Section 8, 80 acres; capital value £1590, half-yearly rental £35 15s 6d and £l2 19s 3d, which was the interest and sinking fund on buildings valued at £l5O, payable in cash or in 7 years by 14 half-yearly instalments of £l2 19s 3d. Total half-yearly payment, £4B 19s 9d. Eighteen applicants.—Emma Summers. Section 11, 88 acres; capital value £1640; half-yearly rental £36 18e, and £l4 13s lOd, which was the interest and sinking fund on buildings valued at £l7O, to be paid for in cash or in 7 years by 14 half-yearly payments of £l4 13s 10d. Fifteen applicants. —H. W. Glenn. Section 9, 86 acres; capital value £1660, half-yearly rental £37 7s. Sixteen applicants.—Frank Gladding. Section 10, 86 acres; capital value £1570, half-yearly rental £35 6s 6d. Fourteen applicants.—John. Jackson. Section 4, 91 acres; capital value £1700; half-yearly rental £3B ss. Nine applicants.—F. J. Bowling. Section 5, 90 acres; capital value £1620, half-yearly rental £36 9s. Eight applicants.—P. Kennedy.
