CRIME IN WELLINGTON
[Per Press Association.] Wellington, June 20
Several instances of garroting have been reported lately in Wellington, and in two cases, at least, men wre robbed of money. A colored man was held up a night or two ago by three men, one of whom cut a trouser pocket out, containing money, the man’s .eg being injured in the process. In another case, a man was robbed in lay light by men apparently belonging to the same gang.
NATIONAL DAIRY SHOW
Palmerston North, June 20
The National Dairy Show closed this ■vening, having run from Tuesday last. It has proved a magnificent success. The dairy and produce exhibits have been the finest the district has ever seen. The attendance ,as been a Record, the sum of £1025 being taken, which is £212 better dian last year. It is computed that in the four days 33,500 persons passed through the turnstiles and
gates. At the Jersey breeders’ smoke social hist night, a movement was inaugurated, supported by Holstein and Ajisliire visitors, to hold a joint social of ill dairy breed societies next year, >nd to form a combined association for mutual good in approaching the Government and in other ways.
Mr Clifton, Director at the Experimental Farm, after speaking of thr Government’s extension of its Holstein herd, promised that similar attention would shortly be paid to Jew mvs and Ayrshires. /
