■ Mr George Wyndham, M.P., whose death was reported on Tuesday, died at his hotel in Paris. He had been in 0 fair state of health up to within a few minutes of his death.

Mr E. A. James, editor of the newspaper Town and Country Life, has been appointed general secretary of the Reform League.

* There passed away at Wanganui on Monday, Mr W. B. Borlase, barrister and solicitor. He leaves a widow and a.young family (two sons and a daughter).

Lord Islington has been created a Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George, states a London cablegram.

"Mr V. Falder, who was seriously injured in an accident at the Regan Street railway crossing some- time ago, recently took a turn for the worse, but is now doing well.

Ensign and Mrs Simpson, officers in charge of the Stratford corps of the Salvation Army, returned last night from the Dominion Congress of officers recently concluded in Wellington.

Mra 0. M. Curtis and her daughter, Miss Curtis, and youngest son, Master Roy Curtis, acompanied by Mr Geo. N. Curtis, left this morning l>y the mail train for Wellington, and to-morrow they sail in the Willochra for Sydney direct. It is their intention to proceed to Brisbane and •fepend the remainder of the winter m Queensland, returning to the Dominion in ten weeks’ or three months time.

Mr P. F. Ralfe, formerly of Stratford, and who has been resident at Raglan for some time, paid a short visit to Stratford this week to see his daughter, Mrs 0. M. Curtis, before she left with her family on a visit to Queensland. Mr Ralfe, who is looking in excellent health, left for Bulls this morning, and returns north in a few days. Mr Ralfe will probably visit Australia in a few weeks’ time.
