TO-DAY'S AUCKLAND RACES. Auckland, May 31. The A.R.C. winter meeting opened to-day in brilliant weather, and the course was in excellent order, the attendance being large. Results:— Maiden Steeples.— Dorando 1, Delegate 2, Honekaha 3. Scratched: Bravest, Sphinx, and Slaney. Going up the hill on the last turn, Delegate was in charge, followed by Dorando and Honekaha. At the last fence Dorando and Delegate were on terms, the former winning by half a length. Jervois Handicap.— Paoli 1, Barbwire 2, Antiphone 3. Scratched: St. Serf, Draft, Tripoli, Nimrod, Faith. Holdfast, and Laverna. Paoli was in front all the way and won by two lengths. Tjme, lmin 3 l-ssec.
Maiden Hurdles.—Rajah 1, Merrimax 2, Ambergris 3. Scr: Sphinx Frontino, Cloudy Dawn, Watch chain, and Ruffy. Rajah and Merrimax raced to the last fence together, but the former won by two lengths. Time, 3 min 26 sec.
Great Northern Hurdles.—Marton 1, St. KeVin 2, Idealism 3. Scratched: Bravest and Whimper. Idealism and St. Kevin maJe the eatly running. <'rossing '.t tte top, IcealiHn went to the front, just clear of Marton, then came St.' Kevin, Prince Eddy, and Chief Marshall. Marton went to the front and won easily by two lengths, four lengths between second and third. Time, 4 min 5 4-5 sees.
Cornwall Handicap—Kakama 1, Bluestone 2, Sea Pink 3. Scratched : Gloy. Winner led over the last mile, and won comfortably by a length. Time, 2min 14 sec.
