' A writer in a leading English paper remarks that a bluejacket was seen in London tho other day with a capband displaying the legend “H.M.A.S. Australia.” The alteration from the usual H.M.S. is interesting and significant, but one wonders where the development will stop if the new custom of colonial gifts of warships should continue. “H.M.C.S. So-and-so” for Canada will not bo so bad, but “H.M. X.Z.S.” for Xew Zealand will lie rather appalling; and if, say, the British West Indies or British North Borneo should insist on presenting destroyers one can foresee a demand for bluejackets with large heads, so that all the letters can be got on the capI baud.
