SUICIDE IN AN HOTEL. Wellington, May 21. A man named F. L. Armstrong, lately manager of the Commercial Hotel, Pahiatua, arrived in Wellington on , Monday evening, and went to stop at the Pier Hotel.. He was last seen about 5 o’clock last night, and Ins room bing found locked at 9 o’clock this morning, one of the servants climbed the fire escape and gained access by moans of a window.. There he found Armstrong lying on the bed with his throat cut. He had evidently been dead for several hours, as the body was puite cold. Deceased wrote a note to a friend in which he announced his intention of taking his life. Armstrong had been in the Dominion for a little over a year. It is understood that he was married man with a wife residing in England. Wellington, May 22. At the inquest the verdict of suicide while in a despondent state was returned. The evidence showed that deceased had been drinking lately, arid had a. wife in London. The sum of £ll was found on deceased. Auckland, May 22. Charles Edward Bush, SG, who was knocked down by a cab at Newmarket on Saturday night, died in he hospital to-day. Wellington, May 22. Henry Daniels, fireman, on the Moana, committed suicide in his bunk this morning by cutting his throat.
