0 MONTHLY MEETING. '» The monthly meeting of the Stratford School Committee last evening was attended by Messrs P. Skoglund (chairman), T. C. Fookes, E. Jackson, E. \V. Hancock, J. W. Jones, J. W. McMillan, S. Clark, and J. Staples. HEADMASTER’S REPORT. The Headmaster (Mr F. (A. Tyrol*) submitted his report as, follows: The average attendance at the ’school for the current quarter up to Friday last was 513 in the Primary and 125 in the Secondary Department 4-638 for the whole school. This attendance is 85 per cent of the number on the register, and is as high as should reasonably be expected during such weather as we have had for tho last few weeks. A few cases ■of prolonged irregular attendance arc being dealt with by tho truant officer. Tho term holidays are to be taken next week froiji May 23 to June 2. The school re-opens on the latter date and closes again on June 3 for the King’s birthday. For the first ■ time for many years we are working with full staffs in both school depart- j ments, and the whole of the work is ( proceeding in a satisfactory manner. In one or two divisions of our Piimaiy School the work being done is of a ■ very high standard. In one secondary department, owing to the appointment . at the beginning of the year of an additional teacher, we have been _ able to re-arrange the whole work, so ‘ that greater attention can be given to special subjects and more time ' devoted to the studies of our advanced pupils. The Visiting Committee have | notes of the various matters that require attention. The floor of the • porch in the infant room requites ie touching, and this should be attended J to next week. The report was adopted. ! Accounts to the amount of £8 14s were passed for payment.
