THE STREET CAR STRIKE. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] (Received 8.5 a.m.) New York, /May 18. There are continuous riots in connection with the street car strike in Cincinnati. Strikers hurled from the first floor windows steel beams and bags of cement in their efforts to derail the cars. Several of the cars’ crews were beaten into insensibility. The police are powerless. The State Governor refused to call out the troops. THE SHIPBUILDING ‘ DISPUTE. (Received 8.45 a.m.)
London, May 18. Newspapers predict that in the event of a three months’ stoppage in the ship-building trade, three or four years will he required to overtake arrears, resulting in the Navy being reduced below the Admiralty s safety standard.
