THE AUCKLAND VISIT.

Auckland, May 8
The battleship New Zealand was open for inspection to the public for the last time to-day, when many persons visited the warship. The New Zealand will sail for Lyttelton early on Saturday morning. Among visitors to the ship to-day were the members of the Navy League, Victoria League, and Overseas Club. The heads of the various State Departments also went aboard. It is estimated that well over ninety thousand people have been over the battleship since her arrival in Auckland. VISIT TO NEW PLYMOUTH. Mr J. B. Hine, M.P., wires us as follows:—“The Hon. H. I). Bell telegraphs me that Captain Halsey states ho is unable to extend the stay of the battleship at New Plymouth, as the anchorage is unsuitable for this ship, and 'ho does not consider himself justified in remaining there over night. Mr Bell adds, ‘I am certain it is no use pressing for extension ol visit to New Plymouth.’ ”
