AMUSEMENTS.
HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE. “Brother and Sister” is the new star drama at His Majesty’s Theatre. The story concerns a young man who comes into contact with professional crooks, in the shape of a .very channing young lady and a well-to-do father. They fleece him and kick him out, and he wakes from his dream to discover that he has made somewhat of a mess of his life. He turns over a new leaf by sinking a little deeper into the mire. Meanwhile the clerk who has been dismissed for forging a cheque that the ne’er-do-well appropriated, has married his employer’s daughter. The ne’er-do-well, ignorant of all these things, makes a raid with a gang of burglars and finds himself in the bosom of his family, who kill the fatted calf for him, by filling his pocket-book and sending him off by the first boat to the colonies. “Sheepskin Trousers” is a delightful satire on the wild Indian pictures. The heroine is captured by an Indian chief, but she lays a trail of Pale Ale bottles and the hero arrives in time to prevent her from being completely burnt at the stake. A fancy bit of shooting completes this sensational comic. “Waterplane Trials in the Japanese Navy” and the “Gaumont Graphic” are well-worth seeing, while the “Californian Snipe Hunt” is a particularly interesting film. The remaining dramas and comics are well up to standard. In fact the new programme met with a very gratifying reception at the hands of patrons last evening.
