STRATFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Stratford Borough Council war; held last evening, when there were present. His Worship the Mayor (Mr V\ . P. Kirkwood), Councillors R. Dingle, N. j. King. T. Lawson, R. McK v Morison, J. D. Healy, and R. Boon. The following reports were received ; RESERVES' COMMITTEE. Your Committee beg to report that the lease of M.R. 261. Juliet Street, at present held by Mrs R. L. Burgess, expires on 30th'June next. Ate beg to recommend that the reserve be offered for lease on the Glasgow lease system by public auction for a period of 21 years with a right of renewal for a further 21 years at an upset rental of £6 15s per annum. WORKS COMMITTEE. Your Committee beg to recommend as follows: — (1) That consideration of the following works he referred to the new Council: Forming and gravelling Juliet Street, south of Warwick Road Formation of footpath on Cloton Road. Formation of footpath, in Cordelia Street, west side, south of Fenton Street. (2) ’That a crossing he constructor:: opposite Mr Newton King’s in Fenton Street at applicant’s expense. That the kerhing and channelling oi the footpath he held over until new Council elected. (3) That the Public Works Department be informed that Council would be willing to purchase hardwood from the department if the need arose. .- (4) That the Inspector of Nuisances be instructed to have the Health Officer’s recommendations re certain promises in Broadway given effect to. OVERSEER’S REPORT. I beg to report as follows: — (1) A crusher site has been prepared in near ford on Hamlet Street. (2) A quantity of shingle has been carted to the crusher site in Hamlet Street. (3) Water tables in the following streets have been attended to: Broadway, between Celia Street and Pembroke Road, and Juliet Su’ee. from Regan Street to Fenton Street. ■ (4) If our hundred cubic yards oi metal has been crushed. (o) The sewer at the Municipal Buildings has been put right. (6) Mr W. Green -is making good progress with contract 18.3, having delivered about 500 cubic yards up ( the present. . ~ ,

*{{*) «nd Footpaths—The following streets were picked up and received a coat of crushed shingle.. Bro'dthtfiy South, from Celia Street t( Romeo Street; Fenton Street, from Broadway to Railway line. The following streets were scarified-find roll- ■ M, 1 ' receiving coats of crushed metal or shingle required:—Broadway 'Northl from Pembroke to I'Hn; Road; Broadway Soutli, from Romeo Street tid 1 Borough Boundary ; Pag - - Street, from' Broadway to Hamlet Street; Regan Street, Fenton Street, between Orlando and Cordelia Streets. Metal patching was done on the following streets:— Broadway, ’ Gloton Road, Rosalind St., Fenton St., Portia Street, Pembroke Road, Brecon Road, Celia Street, Falstaff Street, Miranda Street, Seyton Street, Swansea Road, Juliet Street, Hamlet Street, Regan Street, Orlando Street, Warwick Road. Footpaths were made on the following streets:—Miranda Street, opposite H. Brown’s houses; Seyton Street, between Ariel and Oj lando streets; Hamlet Street, between Regan and Seyton Streets; Hamlet Street between Page and Celia Streets, Ariel Street, between Lear and Celia Streets; Cordelia Street South, from Mr Bambord’s bouse to Ccha Street ; Fenton Street West, to King Edward Park. The following footpaths were repaired : —Clotou Road, Swansea Road, Orlando Street, and Romeo Street.
Eight hundred and sixty-fire cubic yards of boulders and shingle were crushed by the Council’s own staff. Nineteen culverts were put in or. various streets. The usual routine work of cleaning watertables, making concrete blocks for fire plugs, keeping paths clear oi grass, cleaning streets, etc., was attended to. (2) Waterworks,—Watermains were extended to the following streets:— Orlando Street South, Cordelia Street South, Olivia Street, Romeo Street South, Ariel Street South, Craig Street. The weir at the headworks of the water supply was repaired, 21 new services were connected. (3) Drainage.—To relieve the tunnel in Broadway Central, a 12-in concrete drain was laid in Miranda Street Central from the sale yards to the river. A concrete manhole was put in at the tunnel crossing Broadway near Began Street. Four new sewer connections were made.
