N.Z. FARMERS’ UNION.

TARANAKI PROVINCIAL EXECU TIVE.

The monthly meeting of the Taranaki Provincial Executive N.Z. Farmers’ Union was held at Hawera on Thursday. Present: Messrs J. Davidson (president), R. Lambie, G. Capper, D. J. Willis, H. Buxton, A. E. Washer, G. H. Buckeridge and R. Dunn. The Advisory Board wrote stating that the Dominion levy for the ensuing year had been fixed at 2s 6d per mcmber.

Better Marketing of N.Z. Produce. The secretary reported that the ; Union, in conjunction with the A. and P. Societies, had arranged that Mr Lysnar should deliver a number of addresses throughout the Dominion on the better marketing of New Zealand produce. He had delivered addresses at New Plymouth and; Sawef a.‘ ,j R:was resolved that the executive, fjjliyi appreciates the value of Mr addresses on the- -better mM-ketihg'of : our produce and, hegs , to.. convoy to; him its sincere thanks. Pollution of Water Bill. A circular On the Pollution of Water Bill was received from a number of mercantile firms. The circular disapproved of the Bill in its present' form. After discussion, it was resolved that the executive oppose tbd provision of the Pollution of 'Water Bill which takes away the power of 1 riparian owners from taking an in-: junction against trespassers injuring or polluting streams on his property and substituting action for damages, and that copies of this resolution bo sent to M.P.’s for Taranaki. Immigration. Mr Buckeridge brought up the question of the selection of suitable immigrants to New Zealand, and stated that in many cases agents were not at all careful in their selection. It was a matter that some action should be taken in. He moved that the Advisory Board of the Union be asked to bring the matter of the selection as to their fitness for farm work before the/ proper authorities.
