DOMINION NEWS.

COMPENSATION COURT. (Per Press Association.) Christchurch, March 18. Epfore the Compensation Court the action brought by Lester Matson, on behalf of H. Matson and Co., against the Minister cf Railways for £1478 compensation for land taken by the Railway Department at Addington, under the Public Works Act was continued. Mr Justice Denniston presided, and with him as assessors sat Mr A. Boyle and Mr W. J. Hopkins. After evidence, the court, after a retirement, awarded claimant £550 compensation, together with interest on that sum from the date of the proclamation. Mr Justice Denniston, in announcing the Court’s decision, said that they had not considered the higher price of Taylor’s section bought by Matson and Co., except in helping the Court to essess the actual value of the whole of the land, as they felt convinced that Mason and Co. would have purchased Taylor’s land in the beginning. No costs were allowed.
