Competition was good and a very successful sale resulted. The demand for good young ewes was quite keen, all of this claps being sold. The only sheep in the yards not cleared were small 2fcodth ewes and wethers on which vendors’ resel'W'^were torf'fiigh. I quote: I. 6, ewes to’ 14s 5d for a gooff Straight lin'd/4 and 6-tooth to’f.m. ewefe 13s, wd6lly* lambs 10s sd, shorn do.Uk* lOd, Bs ! 6dj 8s 3d, 8s Id, Bs, 7s Bd, 7s 7d, 7s Id, culls 4s, small mixed 2-toOth 10s to 11s 2d, f.f.m. ewes 9s 5d to 10s Bd, 2-tooth wethers (good lines) 11s Id to 14s 9d, others 13s to 13s 4d, 2-tooth ewes 15s 3d for a nice line of Romney-Lincolns, others 14s 7d to 14s lid, small 11s Id to 12s lOd, 2 and 4-tooth ewes 14s lOd, 2 to 6-tooth ewes 13s, soundmouthed ewes 7s 4d to 9s 4d, culls 2s 6d to 5s lOd, 4 and 6-tooth wethers in forward condition 16s 3d to 16s 7d, rams from 1) guineas to 4 guineas, aged 10s 6d to 17s 6d. For my ITrenui fortnightly cattle sale on the 10th instant there was a good yarding and attendance. I had an improved demand for most classes, sales being made as follows: Springing heifers £5 2s 6d to £7 10s, dairy cows £4 5s to £5, wearier heifers £1 13s, weaner steers £1 6s to £l 10s, and £2 4s for a well grown lino of Shorthorns, 15-month steers £3 2s 6d to £3 7s (id, 2-year steers £3 15s, in-calf heifers £4 17s Od, in-calf 20-mohth heifers £3 11s 6d, 20-month empty heifers £3 Ss to £3 11s, store cows £2 10s to £3 I.ls, forward cows £1 5s to £4 9s, fat cows £5 1.5 s to £6, bulls £2 8s to £4 12s Od, f.m. ewes 7« 6d, small 2tooth wethers 10s Id, store pigs £l, buggy £ls. At Rahotu on Tuesday owing to the very wet weather I had only a small yardipg of 150 head of cattle and 33 sheep. The attendance, however, was good, practically everything being cleared at the hammer as follows: Weaner heifers £1 16s to £1 18s 6d, weaner steers £1 12s to £1 17s, Jerseys £1 2s, yearling steers £2 13s, 2vear steers £3 17s, 20-mouth Ayrshire heifers in calf £4 ss, grade in-calf heifers £3 16s to £l, store cows £2 15s to £1 3s, fat cows £5 17s Gd, bulls £3 8s to £5 12s 6d, springing heifers £5 5s to £6 2s fid, f.m. ewes 7s, Rahotu
