The Prince , of Wales will visit Germany on March 17th, and will spend a portion of his vacation atthe German Court. /
The following constitute the first Opunake Harbour Board: Messrs T. P. Hughson, James McFie, M. J. MacReynold®, R. P. Malcolm, Arthur McKeown, and A. H. Moore.
Lord Islington will be the next LordLieutenant of Ireland, in the event of the retirement of Lord Aberdeen, states The World, a weekly society paper.
The Rev. A. Don, who has worked for many years as a missionary among the Chinese of Otago and Southland, has been transferred to Auckland, where the Chinese population is greater than in the South. Mr Don has been a resident in the South for 31 years, for 24 years of which his home has been in Dunedin.
The Prime Minister (Hon. W. F. Massey) hopes to visit Taranaki early in April next. In a letter to Air J. 13. Hine, M.P., the Premier stated that he would be pleased to receive local deputation's. It is not yet certain whether the Hon. Mr Fraser, Minister for Public Works, will accompany him. <"
Mine. Paquin, the head of the famous house of Paquin, has been decorated with the Legion d’Honneur. Commenting upon the bestowal of the decoration, the Pictorial says: “Women have every reason to rejoice. In the first place it is given for creditable work and specially gratifying that distinction should be bestowed upon one whose metier (handicraft) has been the beautifying of her sex. For is not a woman tattered and unkempt of all things the most forlorn?”

Sidgwick), “Child of Storm” (Rider Haggard), “A Master of Deception” (Richard Marsh).
Mrs Ruth Roberts, who has lived in Folkestone (England) for many years, celebrated her 100th birthday on January 17th. She received a visit from the Archbishop of Canterbury, who was accompanied by the Mayor of Folkestone, who wore his official robes, the town sergeant, and Mr W. L. Easton, police court missionary. Over the mantlepiece of the bid lady’s humble abode' is a framed sketch of Dr. Davidsoh, and the Archbishop, surprised, asked how she came by the picture. The old laxly explained how of the late vicar of Brabourne, Kent., of the Ite vcar of Brabourne, Kent. Mrs Roberts was born at Hythe, and is one of twenty-two children, and is a Widow. Her husband died many years ago. Her father and two brothers fought at the battle of Waterloo.
