AUCKLAND EXHIBITION
Referring to the Auckland Exhibition and the proposed Taranaki Court, the Taranaki, Herald remarks that local bodies might remember that private exhibitors will pay a large share of the cost of the section, and that their contributions will not, after all, he very heavy. But the main point is the proper advertising of the products of the district with the object of securing new markets. There are many things besides butter and cheese that Taranaki can produce, and for which openings are required. Samples of many of these will no doubt find a place in the Taranaki section, which, if made as representative as possible, should be very attractive as well as a fine advertisement for the district. It has been suggested that coal from Tangarakau should he shown. The suggestion is a good one, and is hoped will 'he acted on. Anything that can he done to bring into prominence the mineral resources of Taranaki, and attract the attention of people likely to develop those resources, should he done. North and south, which have so much in common, although the fact lias, unfortunately, not been too well recognised in the past, should pull well together on this occasion, and furnish a display that will he not only a fine attraction hut also an excellent advertisement for Taranaki. The cost will not bo excessive; the benefits should he very great.
