Mr Sidney Pitt has sold his racehorse Glenfern to Mr C. W. Williams, of the West Coast. Masterpiece is getting a reputation as a winner on the concluding day of a meeting after indifferent form on the previous days of the gathering. At the Hawke’s Bay autumn meeting last May he was among the also started division in the Cup, and next day won the Burge Memorial Stakes impressively. At Wellington in January he finished absolutely last in the Cup, and ran home an easy winner in the Consolation Handicap. Last Thursday Masterpiece disgraced himself in the Wanganui Cup, finishing last but one in a field of eleven, and on Saturday romped home in the Wanganui Stakes Handicap. No wonder that this has provoked a hostile demonstration. The son of Clanranald— Madowla seems to bo as great a rogue as was Cannic duel in the same stable.
