At the trial of the motor bandits the jury deliberated for thirteen hours. Dieudonn, Monier, Calliezu and Soudy were sentenced to death; Carouy and Meclge to servitude foi life; Debouo to ten years; Foyer to six years; and Rozat and Do Fleury to five years’ imprisonment. A Conspiracy Bill, which has been promulgated, assimilates the provisions of the Indian penal code to those of the English law, and makes conspiracy a substantive offence. An explanatory memorandum dwells on the existence of dangerous conspiracies and the inadequacy of the existing law.
