The Cardiff, Barry, and Penortt coal trimmers have decided to tender notices on April 1 of a strike whereever non-unionists are employed. DISSATISFIED WORKMEN. Brisbane, February 24. Work has been stopped on the new railway from Cloncurry to Mount Cuthbert, the Department refusing a demand for higher wages. DOCKYARD WORKERS’ DEMANDS. (Received 8.5 a.m.) London, February 24. The Admiralty dockyards workers at Portsmouth threaten to strike unless wages are increased. The Chatham dockyard artisans and laborers demand 6s 6d weekly to meet the extra cost of living. MERCHANT SERVICE GUILD. (Received 8.5 a.m.) Melbourne, February 25. No agreement resulted at the compulsory conference of the Merchant Service Guild dispute, and the matter has been referred to the Arbitration Court. MARINE ENGINEERS’ DISPUTE. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, February 24. The Union Steam Ship Company made formal application to have the dispute in which it is at present engaged with the marine engineers in its employ heard before the Conciliation Council. The other party to the dispute is the Marine Engineers’ Institute.
