FINGER PRINT EVIDENCE.
THE TROTTER MURDER. Melbourne, February 19. The trial of Harold Thompson for the murder of Trotter has commenced. The Crown. Prosecutor, in hie opening, stated that a most remarkable development had occurred. Thompson’s index finger, within the very recent past, had been interefered with, and by some process of manipulation the ridges of the finger bad been altered. This is regarded a« an indication that the accessed had desired to evade the weight of evidence created by the similarity of the finger print found in Trotter’s house and the impression of Thompson’s ' finger taken by the police. The evidence given was similar to that at the inquest.
