Henry Hugh Clarke, horse trainer, and George Peeps, a jockey, have been committed for trial for doing grievous bodily harm to Herbert McDermott. McDermott testified that in an altercation in a railway carriage Peeps gripped his ear with his teeth and ripped it down. He heard Peeps remark, ‘T have bit his ear off, and spat it out of the window.” \ CATHOLICS PROTEST AGAINST “WESTWARD HO.” j London, February 19. The Catholics at Glossop (Derby' headed by Canon Harkins, threaten to refuse to pay rates unless “Westward Ho” is withdrawn from the schools. Monsignor Robert Benson is supporting them.
