AN EXPRESSMAN’S DEATH. <Per Press Association.) •Palmerston North, February 19. This afternoon T. Rogers, an expressman, was driving to the river—presumably for firewood—and when near the bottom of Pahiatua street (where it turns towards the river) the cart appeared to give a heavy jolt and the driver fell from his seat onto the road. Both wheels of the express passed over him. The accident was observed by men engaged in a gravel pit near by and they went to the unfortunate man’s assistance. Rogers died before medical aid arrived. t

FELL DOWN WHARF STEPS. Auckland, February 20. John Hege, a cook on the schooner Clio, fell down the steps at' the wharf when going aboard the vessel, and sustained a broken leg, as well as injuries to his head resulting in concussion of the brain. Faint hopes are held out for his recovery. RESULT OF A COLLISION. Wanganui, February 20. A man named E. Cook sustained slight concussion and had his shoulder dislocated through being thrown off a drag, as the result of a collision with a tram car this morning.
