IMPROVING AEROPLANES. (Received 8.35 a.m.) Washington, January 26. The War Department is experi nent ing with a new material for aer plane planes, the effect of which will be to render the aeroplane invisible at a height of 500 feet, with a noni flammable, tougher, and lighter canvas. An experimental aeroplane is about to be constructed. WATERPLANES AND AIRSHIPS. (Received 8.10 a.m.) London, January 26. The Admiralty has selected several bases on the East and South,Coasts for waterplane depots, and ultimately there will be three hundred waterplanes on the coast. Fresh experiments are being made in the construction of airships. AIRCRAFT IN GERMANY. Berlin, January 26. The new Zeppelin travelled for sixteen hours. An English firm was arranging to make a rigid Schnettelanz airship, but the German Government blocked the negotiations by guaranteeing the firm some Government work.
